They were working on the prints, “Cicada” 1980 and ”Cicada II” 1981. The same screens were used as the basis for both prints. Johns altered the screens from one image to the next in response to what happened, visually, when he varied the colors and gave one a field of white and the other, grey.
They were also working on ”Usuyuki” 1980.
